Letter from the President - June 2008

Dear Members,

Thank You for a great couple of years. I have enjoyed being a part of the Executive Committee for the South Florida Chapter. As the 2007-2008 chapter year ends, I hope everyone will take some time to think about what types of benefits you would like to get from being a member of the South Florida Chapter. I think that having good speakers with relevant topics is one of the first ways to get benefits out of monthly chapter meetings. Also, networking can be a very powerful tool in our industry. You may want to network to find a new job, or you may need to get technical expertise in an unfamiliar area. We all know that there are too many facets of the Safety, Health and Environmental Industry to know "everything". The learning stage is a constant. Please use your membership benefits to their fullest extent. The first step of doing this is communicating with your executive committee on what you expect out of this chapter. They welcome your requests and your ideas. They also welcome any volunteers that want to help keep the chapter business running successfully.

June 17 will be our last meeting until September. Due to scheduling issues, our Vendor Day will be postponed until sometime next year. We want to make sure that Vendor Day is quality, so that you can maximize its benefits. Tracy Linhart, ASSE Area Director, will discuss Hurricane Preparedness and peform 2008-2009 Officer Inductions.
